Louise Scheurer, 81, of Dallas, TX, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her family. She will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to all that knew and loved her.
She was born in Galveston, TX on March 5, 1931 to Kahn I. Fosdick and Catherine Nellegar Fosdick. She attended the Hockaday Junior College and the University of Texas in Austin, where she joined the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She was the past president of the Hockaday Alumni Association, devoted member of the Junior League, and a founding member of the Dallas Opera Guild. She was known for her extraordinary hospitality, her sincere love for her family and friends, and her passion for traveling and the arts.
Survivors include her sons, Mr. Douglas D. Bruton, Sr. and his wife Karol Bruton of Dallas, Mr. David C. Bruton of Cannon Beach, OR, and Mr. John J. Bruton of Tyler, TX; her sister Patricia Fosdick Hill of Portland, OR, her sister-in-law Barbara Fosdick of Houston; her five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, John J. Fosdick of Houston, and beloved husband, Thomas Scheurer.
The family extends its deepest gratitude to the care providers at The Plaza at Edgemere, Reachout Homecare, and VNA Hospice for their dedicated loving care and especially to Veronica Nguyai.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 8011 Douglas Ave., Dallas, TX 75225. In lieu of flowers, per the family Christmas tradition, memorials may be made to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 36006, Dallas, TX 75235, or the charity of your choice.
