Obituary

Loyal D. "Grumpy" Nothstein, 78, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2014 . Loyal was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania on February 6, 1936 to parents Raymond and Viola Nothstein. Mr. Nothstein was retired from General Motors after 30 years of service and had also been the owner of Grumpy's Books & Records in Akron. Loyal had enjoyed membership in the Portage County Rabbit Club, the Buckeye Woodcarvers Club and was past president of the American Sable Rabbit Club. Loyal was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania on February 6, 1936 to parents Raymond and Viola Nothstein. Mr. Nothstein was retired from General Motors after 30 years of service and had also been the owner of Grumpy's Books & Records in Akron. Loyal had enjoyed membership in the Portage County Rabbit Club, the Buckeye Woodcarvers Club and was past president of the American Sable Rabbit Club. He enjoyed fishing & gardening and loved his family immensely. Loyal was a wonderful provider to them.

Loyal is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patty Nothstein and his children: Ralph (Linda) Nothstein and Cathern (Todd) Peterson. Left also to cherish his memory are his grandchildren: Michael Pratt, Matthew Peterson and Cody Peterson. Surviving also is his sister Benita Pierce, his brothers: Kenneth (Judy) Nothstein, Norbert (Rita) Nothstein and many loving nieces and nephews.

Loyal was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, from 11:00am until the 12:00pm Memorial Service officiated by Reverend William Wisniewski.

Loyal's family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Rootstown Fire Department, Robinson Hospice and Visiting Nurse and the staff of 2nd East at RMH for all of the compassionate care given to Loyal.
