Obituary

Lucille Cross was born November 17, 1925 in Mazeppa, MN the daughter of William and Ida (Jones) Cross. She moved with her family to Seeley, WI at the age of eight and worked on the family farm. In her younger years she worked in restaurants in various cities as she traveled. On June 12, 1947 she was joined in marriage to Fred Salzmann in Casper, WY. Together they moved to Hayward, WI where they owned and operated their farm just east of O'Brien Hill. Lucille worked operating the farm and raising her children. Lucille Cross was born November 17, 1925 in Mazeppa, MN the daughter of William and Ida (Jones) Cross. She moved with her family to Seeley, WI at the age of eight and worked on the family farm. In her younger years she worked in restaurants in various cities as she traveled. On June 12, 1947 she was joined in marriage to Fred Salzmann in Casper, WY. Together they moved to Hayward, WI where they owned and operated their farm just east of O'Brien Hill. Lucille worked operating the farm and raising her children. She was a hard working rugged pioneer woman. In the early 1970's Lucille worked at the Ranch Supper Club where she was known as "momma" to all. She enjoyed listening to country western music and going to concerts, traveling with family, watching NASCAR, and seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On December 6, 2011, Lucille passed away at the Hayward Area Memorial Hospital at the age of 86.


Lucille is survived by her four sons, Robert (Jan) of Black River Falls, Darrell (Bonnie) of Hayward, WI, Henry (Gina) of Littleton, CO, Glenn (Dayna) of Seneca, IL; three daughters, Elaine Salzmann, Judy De Tray, Lillian (Mark) Suino, all of Hayward, WI; nineteen grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren (with three on the way); two sisters, Alice Watland f Superior, WI, Hazel Ring of Hayward, WI; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; infant daughter, Sharon Lee Salzmann; son, Lawrence "Bobo" Salzmann; one granddaughter, Promise Jones; one sister and four brothers.
