Lucinda Corkhill Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 13, 2012.

Lucinda Fulton Corkhill
Lucinda Fulton Corkhill. 85, who resided in Hershey's Mill, West Chester, died peacefully in her home on Thursday, December 13.

Mrs. Corkhill, born in Cumberland, MD, daughter of Stanly M. and Lucinda E. Fulton of Hancock, MD, lived in Berwyn, PA for close to 50 years before moving to Hershey's Mill. She was the devoted wife of doctor, Eric A. Corkhill Jr of Bryn Mawr Hospital and Paoli Memorial Hospital where he practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology. Mrs. Corkhill is survived by her daughter, Lucinda C. Dautrich and Eric A. Corkhill III, both of Paoli, her brother Stanley E. Fulton of Las Vegas, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Corkhill was an avid golfer and played competitively for many years on both the Waynesborough Country Club and Merion Golf Club teams. She was a member and captain of the 1971 undefeated Waynesborough golf team, winner of the Women's Golf Association of Philadelphia prestigious Fox Cup and won 61 consecutive golf matches spanning almost 7 years of play. Mrs. Corkhill was also a member of Oceanside Country Club, Ormond Beach, FL.

In 1975, through the auspices of the Pearl S Buck foundation and Trinity Presbyterian Church in Berwyn, PA, Mrs. Corkhill and her husband sponsored a Vietnamese family which grew over the years to cover multiple generations and dozens of Vietnamese who are now all U.S. citizens. Mrs. Corkhill considered them to be her extended family.

She will be sorely missed by her family and vast array of friends, but the stories of her life are timeless and will live forever.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 18th at Wayne Presbyterian Church, 125 E. Lancaster Ave. Wayne Pa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Paoli Hospital, 255, C/O development office , W. Lancaster Ave. Paoli Pa. 19301.

December 16, 2012

To Eric and the entire family, I was saddened to learn of Cinda's passing today in the Daytona Beach News Journal. When I was the golf pro at Oceanside I can truly say the club was a better place when she was there. I always respected the fact that as she aged she always worked on improving her game. My time with her on the practice range giving her instruction are some of my fondest memories of Oceanside. During a time in our society when honesty and integrity seem to be more of the punch line to a joke than a way of life, Cinda lived those values. Class, integrity, honesty and the caring for others was what she was all about. I missed her when I left Oceanside and today even more. I was blessed to have in my life and I know I am a better person because the time I spent with her. May God bless the entire family at this time. Mark Dunn
