Ludivina Samones Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 9, 2012.

Ludivina C. Samones, age 73, a resident of Harbor City, California, joined our Creator on November 7, 2012. She passed away at her home after a brief illness caused by a rare disease called progressive supra nuclear palsy (PSP).

Ludi, as she was fondly called, was born on April 14, 1939 in the historic town of Kawit in Cavite, Philippines to Nicolas Samones and Guillerma Sambile.

Ludi was a very talented and gifted individual. She graduated salutatorian in Emiliano Tria Tirona Memorial High School in her hometown of Kawit in the Philippines. She was also a woman of goal and determination who worked and supported herself to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Mapua Institute of Technology. She was Chemistry professor in Saint Louis University in Baguio City, Philippines for several years. Her impressive intellectual ability enabled her to receive a one-year grant from the National Science Foundation to further her career at the University of Texas at Austin. She immigrated to the United States in 1972 and pursued more studies at California State University in Northridge.

She worked for the County of Los Angeles as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist and retired after 24 years of service.

Ludi was a woman of faith who loved the Lord so much and was very involved in her congregation(s). Before she moved to Harbor City, she lived in San Fernando Valley; and in her better times, she divided her schedule in attending church services between the two locations. Her hunger for the Word of God opened the door of her home to Bible studies with friends and led her feet to attend Bible fellowships.

Her selfless commitment and desire to obey and please the Lord was manifested in her generous character as shown by her unselfish acts of giving to the less fortunate and donations to charities such as Salvation Army, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Special Olympics, and the Goodwill Organization.

Ludi is survived by her sisters Leony and Cristy, and brothers Ferning and Mannie. In the United States, she left behind her nieces Emmelyn and Jensine and her nephew Patrick. In the Philippines, her nieces left behind are Emma and Leah and nephews Ed, Gene, Noel, Fersam, and Alfred. She was preceded in death by her father, Nicolas, and her mother, Guillerma.
