Luigia Bagnardi, 99, of Oneonta, passed away on Friday April 27, 2012 at the AO Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
She was born January 18, 1913 in Monopoli, Bari, Italy, the daughter of Vito and Eugenia (Sardella) LaBruna. On August 4, 1935 she married Vito Bagnardi, and he predeceased her on May 12, 1994.
From 1956, until her retirement, Mrs. Bagnardi worked as a seamstress at the Oneonta Dress Factory.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church, and the Italian American Club.
Mrs. Bagnardi is survived by her children, Frank Bagnardi and his wife, Madeline of Oneonta, and Carl Bagnardi, and his wife Kathyanna, of Stamford; 11 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.
She is also survived by three sisters, Vita Spaziani of Oneonta, and Lina and Rosa Pinto in Italy; a brother-in-law, Ottavio Bagnardi and his wife Maria, also in Italy; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by two daughters, Pasqua " Pat" Courtney in 1990, and Gemma Cardo Olmstead in 2005.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 10:15 AM in St. Mary's Church, 39 Walnut Street, Oneonta with the Rev. David Mickiewicz, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.
Friends may call on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta from 5 to 7 PM at which time the family will be in attendance.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church, 39 Walnut St., Oneonta, NY 13820.
