Luis Deleon Martinez Sr. passed away on August 16, 2016. He was 74 years old and was due to celebrate 50 years wedding anniversary in December to Gloria P. Martinez. He is preceded in death by father, Albino Martinez, and mother, Guadalupe Martinez, sister, Maria Gonzalez, brother, Juan Martinez.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Martinez, daughter, Belinda Gutierrez(Rick Sr.), and son, Luis Martinez Jr.(Hilda), along with grandchildren: (Gutierrez family- Sarah, Leanne, Rick Jr. and Jennysa) and (Martinez family- Donavan), and great-grandchildren: Justin and Jacob Torres, and Ariana Gutierrez. Surviving siblings, brothers, Rosendo Martinez(Janie) and Luciano Martinez(Maria Elena).
He attended the old West Oso High School, and as a young man, worked at the Chapman Ranch. In 1965, moved family to Corpus Christi, Texas where he worked as self-employed Master Carpenter of over 30 years; and Master Fisherman of a lifetime. His favorite pastime was catching Gafftop at Cole Park Pier and would catch so many that he always blessed his family and friends during Lent with fresh Gafftop.
He was parishioner of Our Lady of Pilar Church where he volunteered for 49 years at Breakfast fundraisers and Annual OLP Jamica. He was a Corpus Christi Cursillo member and actively served with the Guadalupanas for almost 35 years. He served GOD with a willing heart and will be greatly missed. Rosary will be held at 7:00pm on Sunday, August 21st at Angelus Funeral Home located at 549 Cheyenne St., Corpus Christi. Funeral Service will be held at Our Lady Pilar Church, Corpus Christi at 10:00am on Monday, August 22nd, and will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

My Deepest Sympathy to my Tia Gloria,Belinda,and Louie and their families,May God bring you comfort and peace, may God rest his Soul and Eternal light shine upon him now and forever , I wish I was able to be with you at this time, but I requested him to be added in the Prayers of the Faithful in my Parish, St Pius X in Dallas, we have 7 Masses and over 5,000 famiies attend Mass every weekend, many Prayers are being said for the Repose of his Soul.
