Lulu Mae Beam, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 25, 2012. "Mae" was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and also lived in Kansas City, Missouri. She lived most of her life in the suburbs of Chicago, IL before moving to Jacksonville, Florida 35 years ago. Mae's favorite hobby was taking care of her flowers. She loved gardening, working in the yard, and dancing. Mae was a faithful member of Blanding Blvd Baptist Church, and also attended Cedar Creek Baptist Church with her late husband, Ivan, who was also recently laid to rest. Lulu Mae Beam, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 25, 2012. "Mae" was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and also lived in Kansas City, Missouri. She lived most of her life in the suburbs of Chicago, IL before moving to Jacksonville, Florida 35 years ago. Mae's favorite hobby was taking care of her flowers. She loved gardening, working in the yard, and dancing. Mae was a faithful member of Blanding Blvd Baptist Church, and also attended Cedar Creek Baptist Church with her late husband, Ivan, who was also recently laid to rest. She was a kind soul and wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great- great grandmother, deeply devoted to her family and her faith. She was greatly loved, and will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Mae is preceded in death by her first husband, Riley Raymond Potter, and her second husband, Ivan E. Beam, as well as 4 children Nancy Roppolo, Janice Sutor, David Potter and Jimmy Barkley. She is survived by her children, Sandra Takach, Robert Potter, and Rosemary Barkley, as well as 15 grandchildren, Michelle Krawczyk (John), Tammy Scharf (Craig), Jason Lewey, Jodi Griffis (Jeremy), Michael Takach, Jennifer Priest, Danny McMillian, Denise Robinson (Steve), Nicole Potter, Steve Roppolo, Larry Roppolo, Tony Roppolo, Mike Roppolo, Rick Ropollo, and Diane Roppolo, 26 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great- grand children. Family will receive friends and relatives from 11:00 to 12:00, Monday, October 29, 2012 at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A Funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:00pm at the funeral home with Pastor Adair officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Memorial Park.
