Guadalupe Escamilla Arias was born on December 6, 1936 in Liberty Hill, TX to Jesus Escamilla Sr. and Santiaga Ybarra Escamilla. She lived in Liberty Hill for many years until buying a house in Bertram. Once moving to Bertram she went to work for the Bertram Nursing Home and worked there till about 1976. In October 13, 1972 she married Juan Enrique Arias the love of her life. They had been married 39 years before Juan passed away on December 23rd, 2012. In 39 years they were hardly ever apart and loved each other unconditionally. On March 24th, 1975 she was blessed with her daughter Mary Jane Arias her miracle baby as she would say. She was a stay at home until the winter of 1983 when she went to work for Casa Esperanza as the head housekeeper. She worked at Casa Esperanza until she retired at the age of 62. Months after retired she started babysitting out of her house watching her great nieces and nephews. She loved them with all her heart and spoiled them rotten as any grandma would. She was the glue that held her family together after the loss of her mother and matriarch of the family. We were all blessed to have spent any time listening to her stories from the past and the advice she would give. She had made a promise to her mother when she passed to look after her siblings. She will continue to keep that promise now and forever as our guardian angel. To her nieces and nephews she loved you all so much and will always be with you. She lost her battle to dementia on February 26th, 2014 at 1:56 am, with her daughter by her side. She is now reunited again with her husband and the rest of her family who went before her.

She is preceded in death by her husband Juan Enrique Arias, parents Santiaga Ybarra Escamilla and Jesus Escamilla Sr., brothers, Florencio Escamilla, Jesus Escamilla, Milton Escamilla, Magdaleno Escamilla, Cornelio Escamilla, sisters Tiburcia Solis and Victoria Baladez.

She is survived by her daughter Mary Jane Arias of Haltom City, TX, Brothers Jerry Escamilla and wife Angie of Bertram, TX; George Escamilla and wife Sylvia of Bertram, TX, sister-in-laws Mary Escamilla of Bertram, TX, Connie Escamilla of Comanche, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Universal Health Services Hospice Facility, Wedgewood Nursing Home and the Bertram Nursing Home for all the wonderful care they gave Guadalupe.
