Lurene R "Pat" Steinhouse Age 93 of Nashville, passed away August 24, 2014. She is survived by her sons Lee, John (Wendy), and Jim (Carolyn), granddaughters Amy and Sarah Steinhouse, step-grandsons Brett (Iveta) Raymond and Jason (Janel) Feathers, sister-in-law Lynn Richardson, and several nieces. Age 93 of Nashville, passed away August 24, 2014.
She is survived by her sons Lee, John (Wendy), and Jim (Carolyn), granddaughters Amy and Sarah Steinhouse, step-grandsons Brett (Iveta) Raymond and Jason (Janel) Feathers, sister-in-law Lynn Richardson, and several nieces. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Leroy Steinhouse Jr, her parents John R & Mattie Lou Richardson, sisters Martha Shoaf, Becky Bringle, Reba Fields, and her brother, John D Richardson.
She was born May 8, 1921 on a cotton farm in the Charleston community outside of Covington, TN. After graduating from high school, she taught school a few months, worked for the Department of Agriculture in Nashville, The Department of the Navy in Millington, and the Veterans Administration in Nashville. While working for the Department of Agriculture in the 1940's, she square danced at Madison Square Garden, Constitution Hall, and the Grand Ole Opry, among other places. In 1962, she co-founded Steinhouse Supply Co with her husband, dedicating many years of service to their business. She served as Secretary/Treasurer and then Chairman of the Board upon her husband's death in 1996.
Mrs Steinhouse was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose memory is cherished by her family and many friends. An eternal optimist, she was always saying that tomorrow is going to be a better day. She was a faithful follower of Christ and a true friend to many people.
Mrs. Steinhouse was an active member of Woodmont Baptist Church since 1949, participating in the Golden Rule Sunday School Class and the Joy Choir in her later years. She traveled extensively, visiting 94 countries and almost every state in the U.S. She loved doing needlepoint and created many beautiful items. She held life memberships in the Women's Club of Nashville, Oscar Farris Agricultural Museum, and Belmont Mansion.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the Golden Rule Sunday School Class at WBC.
Visitation will be at Woodmont Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 27 from 5-8 PM and for 1 hour before the funeral, which will be Thursday, August 28 at 11:00 AM at Woodmont Baptist Church, 2100 Woodmont Blvd, Nashville, TN 37215 with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 615-383-4754.
The family thanks the staff of Woodcrest at Blakeford for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woodmont Baptist Church.
