Luther Barnes Jr. went to be with our Lord on December 12, 2010 at the age of 80. He was born September 18, 1930 in Jackson, Mississippi to the late Luther and Alberta Barnes. The family relocated to Indiana where he attended Muncie Public Schools and participated on the Varsity Bearcats basketball team at Muncie Central High School. Luther Barnes Jr. went to be with our Lord on December 12, 2010 at the age of 80. He was born September 18, 1930 in Jackson, Mississippi to the late Luther and Alberta Barnes. The family relocated to Indiana where he attended Muncie Public Schools and participated on the Varsity Bearcats basketball team at Muncie Central High School.

Following high school Luther Barnes Jr. went to be with our Lord on December 12, 2010 at the age of 80. He was born September 18, 1930 in Jackson, Mississippi to the late Luther and Alberta Barnes. The family relocated to Indiana where he attended Muncie Public Schools and participated on the Varsity Bearcats basketball team at Muncie Central High School.
Following high school graduation in 1951, Luther entered the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal. Upon his return, he marries his high school sweetheart, Wilma (Henry) Barnes. Luther and Wilma were marries for 53 years and had two children from this blessed union, Gregory Barnes Sr. and Vernetta "Kay" Barnes. Because of their love of family, Luther and Wilma relocated from Muncie, Indiana to Fort Worth, Texas in 2007 thereby enriching the lives of all.

Preceding Luther in death was the love of his life, his wife Wilma Barnes; his sister Catherine Davis; and his brothers, Alexander Barnes and Elija Barnes all from Toledo, Ohio.

Luther leaves to cherish his memory his beloved children, Gregory Barnes Sr. (Janet), and Vernetta "Kay" Barnes all of Fort Worth, Texas; one grandson, Gregory Barnes Jr. (Kristin) whom he dearly loved; one great-grandchild, Addison Rae Barnes; and three step-grandchildren, Antoinette, Chloe and Brittney; sister, Melinda Nelson of Benton Harbor, Michigan; brother, Jimmy (Marion) Barnes of Phillips Ranch California; sisters, Retha (Eddie) Robinson, Christine (Joe) Sanders, Sally "Katie" Childress; and brothers, Hosea (Deborah) Barnes all of Muncie, Indiana; special niece, LaQuita McCane and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
