Lyla "Jo" Massey Stasney passed away into her Lord and Savior's loving arms on Sept. 8, 2013, in Columbus, Ind. Jo was born on Oct. 25, 1923, to Guilford Marion Cade Massey and Nora Villa Ault Massey in San Angelo. She was a graduate of Lake View High School. She married the love of her life, Bill Stasney (Sweet Poppa) on June 17, 1941, in California. They spent a wonderful 43 1/2 years together before his death on Feb. 10, 1986. Lyla "Jo" Massey Stasney passed away into her Lord and Savior's loving arms on Sept. 8, 2013, in Columbus, Ind. Jo was born on Oct. 25, 1923, to Guilford Marion Cade Massey and Nora Villa Ault Massey in San Angelo. She was a graduate of Lake View High School. She married the love of her life, Bill Stasney (Sweet Poppa) on June 17, 1941, in California. They spent a wonderful 43 1/2 years together before his death on Feb. 10, 1986. Jo was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was always very active in her church and was a member of the East Columbus United Methodist Church in Columbus, Ind. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Jo "Sweet Momma" will be laid beside her "Sweet Poppa" in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo at a 10 a.m. family graveside service Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, followed by an 11 a.m. memorial service for all to join in remembering Jo at First United Methodist Church Chapel in San Angelo with her Pastor Rev. Charles Aigner and Rev. Samuel Hunnicutt officiating. Jo is survived by her daughter, Nita, with whom she made her home in Indiana; son Billy Lee Stasney of Dallas; two grandchildren, Jerry Hunt and Chris Hunt, both of Columbus, Ind.; brother Tom C. Massey and his wife Pat of San Angelo; and numerous nieces and nephews and two grandogs, Jack and Sami. Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; five sisters; and two brothers. Local arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home in San Angelo. Indiana arrangements were made by Barkes, Weaver and Glick in Columbus, Ind. Memorials may be made to the East Columbus United Methodist Church, 2439 Indiana Ave, Columbus, IN 47201. Family and Friends may sign an online register book at johnsons-funeralhome.comn
