Biography

Lyndall Faustina Ruiz passed away peacefully in the evening of September 2nd, 2012, surrounded by her husband, John, of 49 years and her daughter, Gina, and son, Jarrod. Lyndall had recently undergone open heart surgery from which she developed complications and never fully recovered. Lyndall was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 20th, 1943 to Lois LaBranche and James Faustina. Lyndall's family moved to Los Angeles, California early in her life but as she was growing up she frequently returned to New Orleans for the summer to visit her grandparents. In the summer of 1960 she met John Ruiz at a party to which he had escorted his sister. That Christmas John had an extra Christmas card and his mother, after observing this, told him to send the card to the nice girl from California that he had met in the summer. John did so and Lyndall wrote him back and they struck up a correspondence. That next summer when Lyndall returned to New Orleans they began dating and on August 10th, 1963 they were married in Los Angeles. Their first child, a daughter, Gina was born in 1966. Their second child, a son, Jarrod was born in 1968. The family lived in California until the year 2001 when John and Lyndall retired to Henderson, Nevada. Lyndall was an elementary school teacher for 22 years in California and taught every grade level but her favorite was Kindergarten and First grade. Lyndall was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 20th, 1943 to Lois LaBranche and James Faustina. Lyndall's family moved to Los Angeles, California early in her life but as she was growing up she frequently returned to New Orleans for the summer to visit her grandparents. In the summer of 1960 she met John Ruiz at a party to which he had escorted his sister. Their first child, a daughter, Gina was born in 1966. Their second child, a son, Jarrod was born in 1968. The family lived in California until the year 2001 when John and Lyndall retired to Henderson, Nevada.

Lyndall was an elementary school teacher for 22 years in California and taught every grade level but her favorite was Kindergarten and First grade. In the late 1980's Lyndall went to law school and left the education field in order to become a practicing attorney in family law. She remained active in the California Bar until her retirement in 2001.

Lyndall was a very active member of her community in Henderson since moving there in 2001. Lyndall was a pioneer of sorts being elected as the first woman to the Sun City Anthem Board of Directors in 2005. Lyndall started the Pan Club and served as its first president. Lyndall also was a past president of the Poker Club. In addition, she served on the Recreation Amenities Committee and the Channel 99 Steering Committee. Lyndall was also affiliated with a number of other clubs in her community...Performing Arts, Tennis, Computer, Mah Jongg, Women’s, Book and History clubs. Lyndall also sang in the Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic church choir in Henderson.

Memorial plans include a visitation period on Sunday, Sept 9th, 2012 from 3:00-6:00 PM at the Palm Mortuary Eastern (www.palmmortuary.com), 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89123 followed by a prayer vigil until 7:00 PM again at Palm Mortuary Eastern.

There will also be a Catholic funeral mass on Monday, Sept 10th, 2012 10:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Internment will be on Wednesday, September 12th at 10:00 AM at the Saint Louis Cemetery Number Three in New Orleans, Louisiana in the Ruiz family tomb.

To her husband John in the words of Saint Augustine: "Don't cry my loss, feel me close to you and keep talking to me. I will love you from the heaven, as I loved you on the earth".

Lyndall is survived by her husband John, her daughter Gina and husband Timothy, and their daughters Kira and Ripley. Lyndall is also survived by her son Jarrod and his wife Elena, and their daughter Alessandra.
