Funeral services for Lynn Arden Palmer Sr. age 73 of Rensselaer Falls, will be held on Saturday February 7, 2015 at 3:00 pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral home with Rev. Thomas Nichols and Rev. Martha Helmer officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Rensselaer Falls Cemetery. Family and Friends will gather at the RF Fire Hall following the service.
Calling hours will be held also on Saturday (Feb 7th) from 12:00pm until the time of the service. Mr. Palmer passed away on January 25, 2015 at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Constance "Connie" (Rickard) Palmer; two sons, Lynn A. Palmer Jr. & his wife Darlene (Gailie) of Suffern, NY and Daniel A. Palmer & his wife Joelle (van Lent) Palmer of Georgia, VT; two brothers Claude Palmer & his wife Janet, Harold Palmer & his wife Gail; sisters-in-law Nettie Palmer & Patricia Palmer all of Rensselaer Falls; grandchildren Wyatt, Paige and Claire of Suffern, NY, Emelia & Chloe of Georgia, VT.
Two brothers Simeon "Al" Palmer & Charles Palmer predeceased him.
Lynn was born April 13, 1941 in Ogdensburg, NY to the late Simeon & Sara (Rayburn) Palmer. He graduated from Canton High School in 1959, and later married Constance Rickard on March 26, 1966 at The Pearl River Methodist Church in Pearl River, NY.
During his career he worked at Rockland State Hospital in Orangeburg, NY as a Therapy Aide from 1961 to 1968, and later attended the Rockland State Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1971 as a Registered Nurse. The couple later moved to Rensselaer Falls, and he began his employment at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center where he retired in April 1995. After his retirement, Lynn continued to work part time for Community Bank N.A. as a courier until 2008.
He was a past finance & trustee committee member of the United Church of Rensselaer Falls, the historian, secretary and longtime member of the Rensselaer Falls Fire Dept. where he served since 1958, a Rensselaer Falls Village Board Trustee for 9 years under Mayor Herbert Wainwright, a 43 year member of the Free and Accepted Masons Fellowship Lodge #111 where he was the Master until the lodge closed and later joined with the Canton Masonic Lodge. He also served as the cemetery manager & trustee of the Rensselaer Falls Cemetery Assoc. for many years.
He & his wife Connie were able to travel extensively visiting Nassau, Cancun, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and then overseas to Britain, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain, & Morocco. Lynn was a die-hard NY Yankee fan, attending many games at the old Yankee Stadium and then the new Yankee Stadium. He attended many games around the country with special friends Jim & Lois Chase.

So sorry to hear of Lynn's passing. I met Lynn when he began working at the Bank and continued to see him during the time I attended church in DeKalb. He always had an infectious smile, we used to joke about the Red Sox and he was always talking about his family!

Lynn was graduated from CHS with myself and 64 others in June of '59. I
remember him as a nice guy. The Falls was a hot bed of good students and
