Lynn Sorbo was born on a farm in Worth County, Iowa to Selmer and Bertha Sorbo on October 10, 1928. He attended country school and graduated from Northwood High School in 1946. He attended Waldorf College for 2 years and then returned to operate the farm while his dad was ill. In 1952, he received his bachelor's degree from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. He would later return to college at the University of North Dakota to earn a Master of Education in 1968.

On November 7, 1952, Lynn married Ardis Thompson at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, Iowa. This marriage was blessed with five children. Lynn and Ardis moved to Mound, MN in 1955, where they raised their family. In 1986 they moved to Las Crucas, NM and then returned to Minnesota in 1992 to live in Chaska. They have been residents of Henderson, NV for the past 14 years.

Mr. Sorbo taught science for 33 years, mostly in Mound, Minnesota. Spring and Fall were especially hectic as he would finish the school day only to report to his summer job as clubhouse manager for Lakeview Golf Course. Although he retired from teaching in 1986, he didn't retire from working as he pursued other employment. Bank teller, retail salesman, driving instructor, golf course starter, and grocer were but a few of his titles during his later years. He enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, singing in the church choir, working the yard and making lefse for the Holidays.

He is survived by his wife, Ardis of nearly sixty years. Five children – Allen (Mary Anne) Sorbo of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; Tom Sorbo of Milwaukee, WI; Pam (Steve) Hilborn of Sturgis, SD; Kevin (Sam) Sorbo of Westlake Village, CA; Scott (Deb) Sorbo of Pinehurst, NC. Grandchildren Matthew Sorbo, Sunny Sorbo, Craig Sorbo, Lisa (Dave) Weaver, April Sorbo, Braeden Sorbo, Shane Sorbo, and Octavia Sorbo. Step Granddaughter Kirstin Johnson and Great Grandson Wesley Weaver.

Psalm 127 3-5. Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them.

We are overwhelmed by the support of our friends and family during this time. As Lynn would always say “Holy Buckets”.

"Mr. Sorbo was my Biology teacher through my 8th grade at Grandview, and he was the best teacher I ever had. I'll never forget him." Mike Eidem (Battle Lake, MN)
