Mabel P. Chase, formerly of Homer, passed away on July 27, 2011 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center.
Mabel was born February 17, 1918, in Fabius, NY, the daughter of George and Iva Nodine Pine.
She married the late Harold M. Chase on May 17, 1937 and had three children. In 1942, the family moved to the family farm on Route 11 and remained there until 2009, over 67 years later. Mr. Chase passed away in September of 2005.
Mabel took pride in taking care of her home and family. She enjoyed playing cards, especially pitch and was known as the 'Queen' of BINGO. She also loved cardinals.
Mabel is survived by her daughter, Phyllis I. (Fred) Adams of Preble; son, Robert H. (Nancy) Chase of Homer; five grandchildren, Nancy Richards, Brad Adams, Douglas Adams, Lorraine Place, and Bonnie Lynn Coon; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her sister-in-law, Doris Pine; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Harold, she was predeceased by her youngest son, Gary E. Chase in 2000; a brother, Frank J. Pine; sister, Jennie Chapman and her grandson, William R. Chase in 2004.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 N. Main St., Homer, with Rev. Barbara Rhudy officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11AM until the time of the service. Interment will be private in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer.
The family would also like to thank the many friends and family that acted as caregivers during her time of need.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Chase's name may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
