Magdalen Kaiser Farmer passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 5, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Bartholomew Farmer, Jr., and mother of Dr. Richard Bartholomew Farmer III (Toni), Brenda Farmer Erfurdt (Roger, Sr.), Susan Farmer Koehler (Steven), and Ronald Barry Farmer (Donna). She was the proud grandmother of Melissa Farmer Rooney (Michael), Michelle Farmer Mincey (Buddy), Robb Bryan Farmer (Deborah), Rebecca Smill Wortmann (Al), Deborah Smill Burlingame (Joe), Roger Linn Erfurdt, Jr.(Nicole), Adam Steven Koehler, and Emily Anne Koehler. She was the great-grandmother (The Dancing Maw Maw) of Tyler and Alex Rooney, Morgan, Madison, and Megan Mincey, Dominic Adams, Brielle, William, and Matthew Farmer, and Megan and Leah Wortmann. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julia Spansel Kaiser and William Charles Kaiser, Sr., grandson Richard Bartholomew Farmer IV, great-grandson, Andrew Antonino Farmer, her sisters, Julia Ameling, Juanita Murray, and Mary Rose Bock, brothers, William Kaiser, Jr., Albert Kaiser, and George Kaiser, and son-in-law, David Smill. She is survived by her special godchild, Cynthia Bock Hebert, and was visited by her loving nieces, Roberta Bock, and Dianne Vasquez, and great-niece, Amanda Monnerjahn, and also survived by many friends, nieces, nephews, and their children.
She was a native of New Orleans, LA, and a resident of Metairie, LA for 52 years. Magdalen loved to visit family and friends, dance and go to parties, attend dance reviews, concerts, theater productions, and ball games of her grandchildren, shop and give gifts, give of her time for anyone in need, care for the sick, go to parades, and watch her New Orleans Saints play, attend aerobics classes at the YMCA, and travel. She was a member of VFW Post 6640 Ladies Auxiliary, NAIM Conference for the Archdiocese of New Orleans, and a founding parishioner of St. Angela Merici Parish until 1996, and a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Parish and member of the St. Edward the Confessor Hilltoppers. The family would like to give a special thanks to all the staff at Colonial Oaks Living Center and Notre Dame Hospice for their loving care and support.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie on Friday evening, May 11, 2012 from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will take place at St. Edwards the Confessor Church, 4921 West Metairie on Saturday May 12, 2012 at 11:30 am with visitation at church from 10:00 am until time of service. I still remember the day I went to meet Magadalyn and her family. It was such a wonderful experience meeting my extended family. I was saddended to learn of Copsin Magadlen passing.
