Malfrid Wassdahl Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 14, 2013.

Malfrid "Molly" Lovseth Wassdahl
April 21, 1938 - January 13, 2013

Malfrid passed away peacefully in her home in Lemon Grove. Malfrid was born in Melhus, Norway and moved to the USA after marrying Easten Wassdahl in 1965. She is preceded in death on January 10, 1998, Easten Wassdahl of 33 years.

Malfrid was a homemaker that worked part-time at Lemon Grove Bakery for a number of years. Molly enjoyed reading, crosswords, Bingo and finding bargains when shopping. She was an avid animal lover and rallied for legislation to have greyhounds adopted after their racing career instead of being euthanized.

She is remembered for her dry sense of humor, being intelligent, thoughtful, gracious, kindly, generous in every way and respected and adored by many.

Malfrid is survived by her 3 daughters Astrid Holten (Roald), Lillian Towers (Bruce Byfield) and Michelle Horst (Keith). Her grandchildren Kristina, Magnus, Vanessa, Joseph (Laura), Simone and Camille; great grandchildren Klaire and Riley; brother Oddie Lovseth and sister Asborg Stromgren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA to honor her love of animals.

Per her request, there will be no formal service. Family will be present at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, where she will be placed with her husband, Easten.

Malfrid was much loved and will be greatly missed.

Camille, Michelle, Lillian, Astrid,Joe, Vanessa, and Simone: I have great sympathy for all of you folks and my prayers are for the Soul of Malfrid. It has taken some days for this to sink in. Malfrid and Curly were like parents to me. I have so so many memories, stories, and thoughts. I am so fortunate to of spoken with Malfrid days before she passed. We had a great conversation and spent time down memory lane. She was happy to hear from me and as sharp as always. She reminded me of my upcoming birthday and that it's also the same day as her mother's birthday.
I still imagine my next visit will involve her jokes and unique comments with that peculiar accent. I can't believe she is gone from this earth, but her and Curly's memories will live on and I will have have a place in my heart for both of them. My next few toasts will be to their memories. I love and miss them both. Finally, they are both together again.
God Bless,
Gustavo

Lillian, Astrid, and Michelle,
I have so many wonderful memories of your Mom and the years I spent hanging out at your house. A coffee pot always going on the stove, swedish meatballs, crepes with salt pork, her accent and ready smile. Remember the time she was so mad at us because when we were suppose to be watching the house Hans knocked over the Christmas tree! She made my teen years just that much better welcoming me into
your home. I hope you are all doing well. My heartfelt sympathy, Denni

I am so so lucky and honored to be able to say this wonderful women was my grandmother, and because I never had the chance to meet my other grandma, she was my only. Words cannot describe the way I am feeling knowing I will never see her again or hear her crazy accent, knowing very few could understand what exactly she was saying. Heaven is lucky to gain an angel like her and I can rest peacefully knowing she is now in the arms of my grandpa and no longer in pain. I know she will be watching over all of us and I cannot wait until the day we see each other again. I love you grandma, you will always be in my heart!
