Marcel Walter
Well-Known Colonial Williamsburg Pastry Chef
Marcel Walter, 75, passed away on Friday, June 7, at his home in Williamsburg. He was born February 19, 1938 in Steckborn, Switzerland, the son of the late Carl and Augusta Walter.
He began his Pastry Chef apprenticeship in Switzerland and his profession enabled him to work in Belgium, England, and Bermuda before coming to the U.S. and finally settling in Williamsburg as Colonial Williamsburg's Executive Pastry Chef in 1982.
Marcel is survived by his wife, Helen; and two sisters, Heidi Matti and Yvonne Reber.

Marcel was a good friend and co-worker at Williamsburg. I will miss the times we have had together and wish Helen all the best. I have lost a dear friend and the world has lost a great Pastry Chef and Teacher.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Marcel. We worked together at Colonial Williamsburg and had a good friendship. He was a master at pastry.
