Marcelyn (Marcy) Doris Fuchs, 72 of San Angelo, passed away Tuesday, July 9th after a courageous yet graceful battle with cancer. She has left the love of family and friends for her eternal home with our heavenly Father. She was born Marcelyn Doris Gully on February 24th, 1941 in Ballinger, Texas. She grew up in the community of Rowena where she attended St. Joseph's Catholic school. She graduated as the valedictorian of the class of 1959. After her marriage to Harvey Fuchs on October 5th 1961, she moved to San Angelo, where she made a home for her family for the rest of her years. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church since 1963, where she served in Catholic Daughters and in the Helping Hands program. She was an eager participant in every Holy Angels Spring Church Festival since their inception in the early 1960's.
Marcelyn's life was full of God's grace. She demonstrated His grace throughout her life to her parents as a daughter, her siblings as a sister, her husband as a wife, her children as a mother, and to all as a friend. No one could have exhibited Christ's love on this earth more than Marcy, through her long life of Christian service. Marcy had a continuous smile and a fun loving spirit. She was proud of her German heritage and loved to Polka dance. Trips with family and friends to the Frio River were events she enjoyed for years in addition to travel both in the US and abroad. Marcy was an excellent seamstress and cook. Both family and friends enjoyed the benefits of those skills over the years.
She leaves behind her loving Husband of 51 years, Harvey J. Fuchs, her daughter Cheryl Osborn and husband Jim, her sons Todd Fuchs and his wife Ginny, Greg Fuchs and his wife Delaine all of San Angelo and Bill Fuchs and his wife Marie of Forney. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and one great grandson. Grandchildren include Chase Fuchs and his wife Sarah, Clayton Fuchs and girlfriend Jill Pearson, Callie Fuchs, Annie Fuchs, Adrianna Osborn, Andrew Osborn, and Kylee Fuchs all of San Angelo and Will Fox, Miranda Fox and Christine Fox of Forney. Her great grandson is Brayden Fuchs.
She is survived by her sisters, LaVerne Kvapil and husband Jerome of San Angelo and Connie Halfmann and husband Dennis of Lowake. Surviving brothers are Kenan Gully and wife Martha, Mark Gully and wife Judy of San Angelo, Ivan Gully and wife Cathy of Boulder, Colorado, Melvin Gully of Richardson and Wayne Gully and wife Linda of Midland. She is also survived by her Aunts LaVerne Halfmann Gully and LaVerne Englert Gully of Olfen and Jean Gully Hoelscher of Rowena. Special Friends are Linda Sawyer, Liz Valis and Deene Strasner. Marcy sends her love to all her other friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Cordelia Gully of Rowena, paternal grandparents Gustav and Bernadine Gully of Rowena and her maternal grandparents, Henry and Angela Meyer of Westphalia, and infant granddaughter Haylee Ann Fuchs of San Angelo.
The Family would like to thank Odyssey Hospice for their exceptional care of Marcy especially Liz, Barbara, Peggy and Steve.
The Rosary will be held on Thursday, July 11th at 7:00 p.m. at Johnson's Funeral Home.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 12th at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Angel's Catholic Church with internment following at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
