Marcia Kirkpatrick Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 8, 2015.

Marcia MacKenzie Kirkpatrick, age 87, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away on November 7, 2015. She was born on April 11, 1928 in Evansville, Indiana, daughter of Dr. Pierce and Dorothy Hardigg MacKenzie.
Marcia attended Bosse High School and graduated from The College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, VA. She was active in Student Government, and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta. She was also a member of the Mortar Board Honor Society. She met the "Love of her Life," James Samuel Kirkpatrick "Kirk," at The College of William & Mary. They were married on December 29, 1951. As an Army wife, the tours included Hawaii, Turkey and many states. Lt. Col. James S. Kirkpatrick's Army Service included one tour in Korea and two in Vietnam.
Marcia and Kirk moved to Williamsburg in 1983 from Suffolk, VA and were avid followers and supporters of The College of William & Mary football team and went to many home and away games.
She is survived by her oldest son, James Felton Kirkpatrick, of Evansville, IN and his son, Pierce William Kirkpatrick; her daughter, Lynn Kirkpatrick Springer, of Fairfax, VA, her husband, Jack Henderson Springer and their children, David Hampton Springer and MacKenzie Ann Springer; and her youngest son, Donald Pierce Kirkpatrick, of Williamsburg, VA; and her brother, Tom MacKenzie, of Sugarland, TX.
She was truly one of God's Angels sent to Earth and will be truly missed and was dearly loved by her family and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 13 from 5-7pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, VA. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, November 14 at 1pm, at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 809 S. Henry St., Williamsburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to The College of William & Mary, 200 Stadium Dr., Williamsburg, VA 23185 or a charity of your choice.
