Marcus De-Wayne Arnold was born January 11, 1959, in Indianapolis, Indiana. His mother is Barbara Jean Arnold-Smith and father was William David Arnold, who preceded his death on March 9, 1972 when Marcus was a teenager. His mother then met and married Emanuel L. Smith, "Smitty" on December 30, 1972, after the family moved from Indianapolis to Highland, California, who has been Marcus' and his siblings father for 41 years, now.
Marcus attended San Gorgonio High School in San Bernardino, CA where he played on the basketball team and then moved to Portland, Oregon after high school to attend Linn-Benton Community College and then Oregon State University where he received his Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Marcus worked as a counselor in his earlier years, then as a car salesman for many years and at the time of his death he was employed by the Holiday Inn Hotel. It was in Oregon when he met Laura Cook and they married in 1983 and had 2 beautiful daughters, Nicole (age 30) and Morgan (age 27). Marcus and Laura divorced after 20 years of marriage. Marcus then met his current love, Jennifer Summers in 2009, who had remained by his side until his death.
Marcus was an avid golfer and he and his brothers would all love to play golf when they all got together. If you looked on Facebook, you would see many pictures with the brothers playing golf together. Marcus was a doting grandfather and loved to spend his time being "Pepe" to his granddaughter Madison, (age 10) and his new grandbaby, Harper Rose (age 12 weeks). These 2 girls would just light up his life.
Marcus De-Wayne Arnold departed this life on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at the young age of 54, when he lost his battle with nasal cancer. Marcus was a fighter and was determined to beat this disease, but the Lord took him home to allow him to rest and be at peace with no more pain. I know the sun is shining on his beautiful spirit and Marcus is telling us all not to be sad and that he is watching us all from above.
Marcus leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Nicole and Morgan (husband Casey), his granddaughters Maddie and Harper Rose of Portland, Oregon, his parents Barbara and Emanuel Smith of Highland, CA, his brother Rick Arnold (Pauline) of San Bernardino, CA, Michael Arnold (Ninva) of Tejunga, CA, John Arnold (Gina) of Fontana, CA, sister Kitty Arnold of Wichita, KS and baby sister, Debbie Arnold-Webb (Elton) of Highland, CA, 19 nieces and nephews and 8 great-nieces and nephews and many cousins, uncles, aunts and friends.
A memorial service will be held in Skyline Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home Chapel, 4101 NW Skyline Blvd., Portland, OR, on Saturday, July 20th, at 10am. A reception will follow the memorial service at the Wilsonville Holiday Inn, 25425 SW 95th Avenue, Wilsonville, OR 97070, (503) 682-2211.
Another memorial service will take place the following week at Montecito Memorial Park, 3520 E Washington Street, in Colton, California, 92324, on Sunday, July 28th, 2013, at 11am.
The family of Marcus De-Wayne Arnold wishes to acknowledge with our deepest appreciation, the many comforting messages, prayers, flowers and other expressions of kindness and concern evidenced at this time in thought and deed.

Marcus aka MA, we had a lot of fun times together! At Toyota of Gladstone you taught me a lot about the car business, and help me become a successful Internet Manager. You were the first one to welcome be to the department. Remember it like it was yesterday! Outside of work you taught me a lot about life, being a good dad, and about taking on lifes challenges and dealing with them directly, not running from my problems! Last but definitely not least having a good time!!! I remember when you told me your age and I didn't believe you and made you show me your license lol! After we would always joke about you being old enough to be my dad barely but yeah. So I'd call you pops joking around and sometimes you would say yes son, and customers would think we were serious ha ha ha! Oh man I could just go on and on and on! Anyways brother you are greatly missed, love you buddy R.I.P.

Tears will dry and be overcome by a smile, Joy will overcome sorrow. But nothing can overcome the memories we shared growing up as children.
I will hold these precious memories in my heart forever and be comforted.
I know you're safe in your resting place and you've been welcomed with open arms by your father and Heavenly Father!
May the Peace and Lord be with you,

You and Laura were like second parents to our daughter, Carly. We're so grateful for the important role you played in those growing-up years, and the close friendship that developed between our little girls--lasting to this day. Morgan and Nicole were blessed with a terrific dad, and we hope sweet memories will see them through in your absence.

Rest in Paradise Uncle Mark, we love u. A thousand times we needed u, a thousand times we cried. If love alone could have saved u, u would never have died. A heart of gold stopped beating, two twinkling eyes closed to rest. God broke our hearts to prove he only took the best. Never a day goes by that ur not in my heart n my soul. We r missing u Uncle Mark n we just have to remember one thing as we sit n we pray, he will be there to greet us, u will c him again someday..

Big brother. I love u so much. We were so blessed to have all of our siblings love. Mama did a good job raising us leading us in the right direction in our lives. Even though we had our normal sibling fights, wes still were all close. Hey remember that fight we had when mom and went to vegas and you got mad at me when I told on u for having your girlfriend over and nobody was supposed to be at the house? I was talking on the phone and u said you were going to beat me up. I took that phone and conked u over the head and I took off running! U chased me, caught me and beat me down. I laugh about that to this day. Thank you for msking me tough! Growing up with 4 brothers, I had no choice but to be strong and tough. Thank u big brother for your love snd support throughout the years. I love u much. God is taking care of you now. I miss u much. Love from your baby sister kitty

Dear Marcus, our star, we knew you would leave us at San G and go on to do great things...and you did! Your energy, playfulness, kindness to us all, your strength and dedicated athleticism spoke volumes to your character. God has reclaimed His angel...He threw wide the Gates. May you rest in comfort at the throne of our Heavenly Father. God bless all those who love you and remain behind. Until we meet again...
