Margaret Brand Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 15, 2016.

Margaret Ann Kay was born April 15, 1928, to Margaret (nee Meyer) and Henry Kay in Jackson, Minnesota, the third of four daughters. She grew up in western Minnesota and graduated from the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, Minnesota in 1945. She completed an associate degree in 1948 at the Wahpeton, North Dakota State School of Science, where she was active as a cheerleader, a yearbook staff member, and was a member of a trio who sang
big band songs on a Fargo, North Dakota radio station. In 1949 she married fellow classmate Milton Brand. The couple made their home in Sauk Centre and St. Cloud, Minnesota, and they also lived for many years in Tucson, Arizona. They have lived in Alpharetta for the past twelve years. In addition to being a wonderful, loving, and supportive mother to her three children, Margaret also had careers as a secretary, as a travel agent and as a real estate agent. She filled her leisure time with travel, music, painting, reading and spending time with family.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 67 years, Milton; her son Kimm and wife Kianoush of Redondo Beach, California; son Mark and daughter-in-law Margrit of St. Augustine, Florida; and daughter Stephanie and her husband James Rocchi of Johns Creek, Georgia. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonita, in 1957. In addition to her children, she is also survived by her three sisters- Kathryn Arey and Beatrice Fullerton of Glenview, Illinois, and Ruth Sharkey
of Marshall, Minnesota. She was also a loving grandmother to Kathryn O'Brien and Geoffrey Lemmond, and to Peter, Erik, and Natalie Brand.

All you Brands and everybody else, I'm sorry Marge died. She was a terrific aunt and all around dynamite person. I see that she was a cheerleader. That makes sense to me. She always seemed very cheerful, like a naturally cheerful person. I know that nobody's cheerful all the time, but she was headed in that direction. She had a great sense of humor and cracked a lot of jokes. She was also great at raising kids, one of the best ever. I'm very sorry she's gone. But she's probably having a Super time up in Heaven now. God bless her and you too.
