Kate and Michael
My memory of your parents will always be Saturdays at Debate tournaments. Your Dad would be busy organizing the schedule and the Millburn debaters, but your Mom and I would often sit at a table, waiting for our time to judge, and having a wonderful conversation. I was sorry to learn of her death. My thoughts are with you both. Alice Clark

How terribly devastating to lose such a vital woman so young. Margaret was a great friend to my parents - and especially in recent years to my mother after my father's death. She had so much wisdom to share about her own experience losing a husband. And she always showed up for my family! I remember babysitting the kids in East Hampton, since our homes were on the same road. Just this past summer, I got to meet Kate's baby, Conor. How time flies! I am heartbroken for Kate and Mike. I feel responsible for you in that babysitter way, even though I am only a few years older. Kate - I am glad you and my mother got to speak. It is important to have surrogate parents in our lives. Sending much love your way.

Dear Family of Margaret,
I went to Manhattanville College with Margaret. She was part of our group of wonderful friends. I remember Conor would visit us and stun us with his ability to play bridge. Margaret would study Japanese for hours. She was always such fun and invited us to Princeton often. Unfortunately, we lost touch but I will always have fond memories of her. I remember once, she was driving back from one of the boy's colleges, it was late at night and she stopped for gas mistakenly at a drive-in bank. My thoughts are with you all for your loss of a great woman.

Dear Ron and family,

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Professor Cannella. I was fortunate to be her student and teaching assistant in 2012-2013 and will never forget her warmth, empathy, passion, and humor. She empowered me to think differently and dream big. I deeply miss her. I still remember our Italian dinner at your home on a beautiful day in spring of 2013. I am truly sorry for your loss and I hope she has found peace.

Dzavid Sejfovic, Microcredit Founation LIDER

Dear Cannella family,
On behalf of all staff of Microcredit Foundation LIDER, please accept our condolences and deepest sympathies during this difficult time. Margaret spent several years serving on our Board of Directors and during that time she captured our hearts with her kindness and wisdom. She was not only a strong supporter of our mission but above all a true friend to our staff, clients and people of Bosnia and Herzegovina. For that, we nicknamed her our granny, a title in our culture reserved only for closest family members who is protective of you and use her wisdom and experience to help you during tough times. Farewell dearest granny, you will be forever in our hearts!

The staff and board of Trickle Up send our condolences to Margaret's family. As a board member from 2005-2010, she served our mission with great enthusiasm. Her legacy translates into thousands of women in Africa, India and Central America who were able to start businesses as a pathway out of extreme poverty. While Margaret never got to meet them, of course, she was a presence in all of their lives. Our thoughts are with Ron, Katherine and Michael at this sad time.

I had gotten to know Margaret through my work with her at Princeton Women's Leadership and had always looked up to her as a woman who broke barriers, stood up for what she believed in and worked tirelessly to make life better for women wherever she could. She will be dearly missed by our Princeton women and cherished always as our leader who made a difference.
