Margaret Delorous Presley Crain was born on April 7, 1924 and died on Sunday, August 6, 2017 after falling and hitting her head while walking her dog Katie.
Delorous was born in Green County, Mississippi, the only child of Vivian Smith Presley and Phillip Brooks Presley. She graduated from Murphy High School in Mobile AL. She attended Springhill College, the University of Ohio, and the University of South Alabama. She was career federal service and worked in Mobile, AL, Columbus OH, Twentynine Palms CA, Huntsville AL, and Okinawa, Japan.
She was a lifelong member of the Order of Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, and Westside United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter Val Crain, son Marc Crain, cousins Phyllis Kelly and Melton Smith, and devoted friends Margaret Ann Davis and Kay and Rick Lauber.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday August 10 at 3:00 p.m. at University Oaks Retirement Community. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Pinecrest Funeral Home on Friday, August 11 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Westside United Methodist Church, 269 Mohawk St, Mobile AL 36606.
