Margaret Long Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 10, 2017.

LONG, Margaret "Louise" Newsome, age 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, August 10, 2017, resting for her final journey home to be with the Lord.. She was born in Camilla, Georgia on February 28, 1924, and at age four moved to Plant City, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Pauline Newsome, older brothers, Brady and J.L. Newsome, and her husband of 62 ½ years, Homer Jackson Long. Survivors include one son, Jack Ellis Long; one daughter, Linda Diane Long Tucker (Charles "Butch); 5 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was a welder during WWII helping out our country. After the war she worked at Plant City Steel for 32 ½ years, retiring in 1985. Mrs. Long was of the Baptist faith. Margaret loved life, her Lord and Heavenly Father, her husband, family members, and especially her grandkids and great grandkids. They were her world. She was the glue for her family. She loved her church and people of all creations and was an inspiration to all, devoting her life to family and church. Her hobby was flowers. She didn't have a yard, just flowers. She would say flowers were a labor of work and love.

Visitation with family and friends will be 10:30am to 11:30am on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Wells Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 11:30 am at Wells. The family will have a private burial.

The family request in lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to the Shiloh Baptist Church Building Fund 1104 W. Cason Street, Plant City, FL 33563. If you build a flower box, plant seeds to grow. If you build a church, my mother's smile will glow.
