Amey, Margaret Christena -84, Halifax, passed peacefully while surrounded by family on Thursday January 31, 2013, at St. Vincent's Nursing Home. Margaret was a gentle soul with loving spirit and a ready laugh. She will be greatly missed. She was born in Sydney Mines in 1928, the eldest daughter of the late Alex and Margaret (Dickson) Boyd. Known then as Peggy she trained as a nurse at the Glace Bay Hospital and graduated in 1949. She worked as an RN at Harbourview Hospital in Sydney Mines until she started a family and moved to Halifax in the 1950's. In 1973 she went back to nursing - a career she truly loved. Amey, Margaret Christena -84, Halifax, passed peacefully while surrounded by family on Thursday January 31, 2013, at St. Vincent's Nursing Home. Margaret was a gentle soul with loving spirit and a ready laugh. She will be greatly missed. She was born in Sydney Mines in 1928, the eldest daughter of the late Alex and Margaret (Dickson) Boyd. Known then as Peggy she trained as a nurse at the Glace Bay Hospital and graduated in 1949. She worked as an RN at Harbourview Hospital in Sydney Mines until she started a family and moved to Halifax in the 1950's. In 1973 she went back to nursing - a career she truly loved. She worked at the Victoria General Hospital until 1983. Marg was devoted to family and friends. She was a great cook, an avid reader who cherished her regular card game with the "bridge club ladies". They met every second Tuesday night for more than 30 years. She was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church and enjoyed being active in the Ladies Guild. She was pre-deceased by the love of her life, her husband of 51 years, Gerald. Also pre-deceased by her loving sister Sara (Wolstenholme). She is survived by sons Sandy (Marian) Gerald (Vessela), Alan, and daughter Donna Bourque (Charles). Much loved by grandchildren Alex, Sharon, Bruce, Theo, and precious great grandchild Laila Margaret. Also loved by many nieces and nephews. Many thanks to the staff at St. Vincent's Nursing home for their kindness and care. Funeral Arrangement have been intrusted to J.A. Snow Funeral home 339 Lacewood Dr Halifax, Memorial Service will be Monday Feb 4 at 11 am at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Halifax.
