Margaret Addeline Costner Abernathy, age 91 passed away on November 3, 2011 at Stanley Total Living Center in Stanley.
Margaret was a faithful servant to her Lord and church, St. Pauls Lutheran Church where she was a lifelong member.
Margaret was a graduate of Dallas High School, and worked for Genuine Parts and OG Penegars before retiring at age 72.
She was born June 11th 1920to the late June T. and Lillie Hovis Costner.
Also preceding her in death was the love of her life, husband Clayton Abernathy, a sister and brother in law Pauline and Jay Rhyne, brother, Buddy Costner and neice Fern Shook.
She is survived by her caregiver a nephew, David Costner and his wife Lois, other nieices and nephews include Linda Day, Dean Tate, Ray Costner, Dennis Costner, sister-in-law, Nora Costner and her lifelong friend , Wilma Long and numerous great neices and nephews.
A special thanks to all the employees of Stanley Total Living Center who took loving care of Margaret.
Funeral services will be held at St. Pauls Lutheran Church on Sunday at 4:00 PM with the Rev. Sherrill Curtis and Rev. Ivan Davis officiating.
Burial will follow in the St. Pauls Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 531 Hardin Rd. Dallas, NC 28034.

Michelle Pruett

I have known Maragret since I was born. In fact I have the card she sent to my baby shower before I was born. She was a wonderful woman, and had the most tender caring heart of anyone I've ever known. I will never forget her beautiful sweet smile. Rest in Peace sweet lady. I will miss you.
