Margaret (Peg) Elizabeth (Johnson) Busarow, 79, passed away after a brief illness on April 15, 2014, at home in Springfield, OH, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 2, 1934, in Willoughby, OH to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur W. Johnson. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Willoughby in 1948 and attended Willoughby Union High School, graduating in 1952. She attended Concordia College, Ft. Wayne, IN from 1952-54 and graduated from Concordia Teachers College, River Forest, IL in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She married Donald Arthur Busarow in July 1956 at Trinity Lutheran Church. They both taught in Detroit following graduation. Growing up an only child, she always dreamed of having a large family. After teaching one year at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Detroit, she gave up her career to stay home and raise six children. She was very active in the Lutheran Church her entire life, singing in the choir, attending Bible classes, reading lessons, baking communion bread and donating hand-painted items to the annual church bazaar. She was also very involved with the Wittenberg Choir, directed by Donald from 1978 – 2010, hosting 50+ choir members at their annual Christmas Party and end-of-the-year cookout. The choir referred to her as "Mama B" and "The First Lady" of the choir. Besides being a wonderful mother, she was a talented artist, musician, great cook, and avid antique collector. She spent many afternoons sitting at the piano, playing and singing Don's music. She and Don were happily married for 56 years until his passing in 2011. She is survived by six children: Kevin (Beavercreek, OH), Kelly (Christopher Creek, AZ), Kendall (Austin, TX), Kerry (Flemington, NJ), Kate (Lompoc, CA) and Kristin (Cincinnati, OH). She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Eugene Busarow (Green Bay, WI), sister-in-law Judy Kosmatka (Utica, MI), brother-in-law Bruce Kosmatka (Utica, MI), sister-in-law Helen Busarow (Collinsville, IL), sister-in-law Carol Busarow (Racine, WI) and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 17th at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 5566 Chambersburg Rd., Dayton, OH 45424, with visitation at 4:00 pm, followed by the service at 5:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either St. Matthew Lutheran Church (address above) or to the Donald Busarow Chapel Music Fund, Office of Advancement, Wittenberg University, P.O. Box 720, Springfield, OH 45501-0720.
