Margaret "Peggy" Justina Handiboe, 62, of Savannah, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Hospice Savannah. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aloysius J. and Mary O'Hayer Handiboe; a brother, James Handiboe and a sister, Maria. Peggy was born in Rockhill, S.C. and has lived in Savannah all of her life. She was a graduate of St. Vincent's Academy and had attended St. James Catholic Church. For several years, Peggy worked at Transfreight Shipping Lines before becoming a paramedic in Brunswick, Ga. Peggy's father, Mr. Aloysius Handiboe, was the author of the famous Savannah song,...
Margaret "Peggy" Justina Handiboe, 62, of Savannah, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Hospice Savannah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Aloysius J. and Mary O'Hayer Handiboe; a brother, James Handiboe and a sister, Maria.

Peggy was born in Rockhill, S.C. and has lived in Savannah all of her life. She was a graduate of St. Vincent's Academy and had attended St. James Catholic Church.

For several years, Peggy worked at Transfreight Shipping Lines before becoming a paramedic in Brunswick, Ga.

Peggy's father, Mr. Aloysius Handiboe, was the author of the famous Savannah song, "It's St. Patrick's Day in Savannah". Peggy was a fun loving, vivacious person and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by a son, Thomas "Trey" Mahany, of Savannah, Ga; a daughter, Nora Stockton, Jacksonville, Fla, four grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial Service: 12 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, with Father Patrick J. O'Brien, officiating.
