Margaret V. Layton, 97, of Stafford County, passed away May 16, 2014.

She is survived by her son, Richard Layton (DeeAnn); nephews, Robert and James Futrell, and her niece Maridee Teeter. She is predeceased by her husband of 71 years, Richard, and her sister Jane Futrell.

Before starting a family, Margaret worked as a registered nurse for ten years beginning in 1938, in Nashville, TN and Chicago, IL. She enjoyed playing piano and organ, and was a lifelong amateur oil painter, emphasizing animals and landscapes.

A private memorial service will take place at a later date.
