Margaret Keys Morschl of Long Beach, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014.

Margaret was born April 24, 1918 in Oklahoma. It was a very different world, a world at war and about to undergo many changes. Margaret was proud that she had lived through those changes and played an active part in her world.

Margaret grew up and went to school in Oklahoma. At the beginning of World War II, she moved to Long Beach, California to help in the "war effort". She started working in the offices of an aircraft firm but eventually began working in a Long Beach legal office. Margaret moved through various positions with the legal firm until she was the bookkeeper and office manager.

While working for the legal firm, Margaret married for the first time. Shortly after their marriage, her husband developed a serious diabetes condition. While continuing to work, Margaret cared for her husband for many years. During those years, Margaret was recommended by the legal firm for a promotion to the position of bookkeeper and office manager of a Long Beach petroleum company.

Margaret's acceptance of a position with the petroleum company led to a career for the rest of her working life in the petroleum industry. Margaret was active for many years in the Women's Petroleum Professional Organization. her expertise in the oil leasing sphere of the industry led to many promotions and after her husband's death a move back to Oklahoma. Margaret became responsible for the overseeing of and accounting for oil leases at the oil company where she had worked for a number of years.

After her retirement, Margaret decided to move back to California and settled in Seal Beach Leisure World. Margaret loved to dance and soon met her second husband, Joe Morschl. He had been born in a German settlement in Romania. They spent several years active in the German Club in Anaheim. After they married, Margaret and Joe moved into a home in Cerritos, California.

In February 1990, Joe suffered a severe stroke which caused the loss of clear speech and the paralysis of his right side. They decided to leave their home in Cerritos, and move to a unit in Leisure World. Margaret immediately became active in the day to day management of their Mutual 15, serving as a longtime member of the board of directors. During those years she served a term as President of the mutual, applying her administrative and accounting knowledge.

During her life, Margaret was very active in the Baptist Church. She served as an active member of her churches in long Beach and Leisure World. She was also very active in several Southern California Baptist boards and organizations. giving to and supporting her church and community was an important part of Margaret's life. Though the years finally slowed Margaret down, she will always be remembered as an active, caring, responsible and organized lady who gave a great deal to her world.er
