Margaret "Margie" Felos, age 90, passed away peacefully in her home on July 3, 2014. She was born on April 21,1924 in Jacksonville, Florida to Nicholas J. Pappas and Athena B. Pappas. Margie attended Central Riverside, John Gorrie Junior High and was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, Class of 1942.

Margie Felos was a devoted Christian and lifelong member of St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church. She served the church in many capacities, always lending a hand in her quiet and graceful manner, wherever and whenever she was needed. As an active member of the Philoptochos Society, (the philanthropic arm of the Greek Orthodox Church), she participated in many projects that made a difference in the local community and throughout the world. Working tirelessly on the annual Greek Festivals, Margie could often be found in the church kitchen preparing baked goods and working as a cashier at the events.

She married Sam Gus Felos on April 27, 1952. In Sam, she found a loving partner of 54 years. Margie was the quiet, reserved and elegant complement to her outgoing and gregarious husband. She shared a beautiful relationship throughout her life with her daughter, her pride and joy, Athena. She welcomed Athena's husband, Farley, into the family as a son, not a son-in-law. When her two beloved grandsons came along, they became the center of her world and they enriched her life beyond measure. As a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Margie found her greatest joy being in her lovely home surrounded by family. With a heart full of love, she enjoyed preparing delicious meals, serving and fussing over everyone, while rarely sitting down to eat more than a bite, herself. In this setting, her sharp wit and sense of humor were always on display, making these cherished and memorable times for her family. Margie's love for her family truly knew no bounds and this was constantly demonstrated by her fervor and willingness to do whatever she could for them. Both friends and family were awed and inspired by the spirit and strength she possessed throughout her life.

Margie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sam Gus Felos; her brothers, John Pappas and George Pappas, and her sister; Frances Tsengas. She is survived by her daughter, Athena Grainger and son-in-law, Farley Grainger; two grandsons, Paul Grainger and Nicholas Grainger; her brother Paul Pappas (Jennie); a godson, Nicholas Tsengas and a niece, Athena Mann who were especially close to her. She is also survived by many other cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
