Margit Grimme Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 6, 2018.

Margit Louise Hallberg Grimme, 72, of Killeen, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on January 3, 2018 after complications from pancreatic cancer.

Visitation will be held at 6:00-8:00PM on Tuesday, January 9th at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 12:30PM on Wednesday, January 10th at 1st Baptist Church Killeen with Dr. Randy Wallace officiating. Burial will be on Thursday, January 11th at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 11:00AM. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Crawford-Bower Funeral Home.

Margit was born in Worthington, Minnesota on February 3, 1945. She graduated from Bloomington High School in 1962 and in her 40's continued on to receive a Bachelor Degree from University of Minnesota.

Margit worked in human resources for Hennepin County Medical Center for 30 years, retiring in 1998. She enjoyed being a leader for Camp Fire Girls, selling Princess House Crystal, women's retreats, taking train trips across the USA with her girlfriends, shopping, renaissance festivals and pets.

Margit loved the Lord and showed that love to her church through working in various activities associated with the church that included choir, library committee, and Heart-to-Heart Quilting. She was part of the Wednesday Review Club, which developed the community Clothes Closet to help underprivileged children with school clothes.

Margit was full of energy and had an infectious laugh. Everywhere she went, she touched people's lives and hearts making her an unforgettable woman. She had an active imagination that brought new ideas to her various organizations, creating new ways to help her church and community. Margit was full of adventure, never meeting a color she didn't like; and those bright colors that were reflected in each quilt she made. The quilts were shared with the Hope Pregnancy Center, warming the bodies and touching the hearts of the mothers and babies.

Margit was married to John Grimme on April 14, 2000; they were married 17 years and had many pets between them.

Margit is survived by her husband John Grimme, her sister-in-law Regina Apple Hallberg, her niece Polly and her three children (Connor, Gavin and Mirren), along with her great niece Stella, and other family and friends.

Margit is preceded in death by her parents Chester and Gertrude (nee: Jensen) Hallberg, her younger brother Thomas Tobias "Toby" Hallberg and her beloved Himalayan cat named Squeaker.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the First Baptist Church in her name. The family of Margit Hallberg Grimme wishes to thank all who loved her and their time with her.
