Margarita Gomez de Daza passed away on June 18, 2017 at her home in Springfield, Virginia, with her daughters and sons-in-law by her side. She was born in Colombia and became a U.S. resident in 1993. She is survived by daughter Martha Daza of Springfield, VA; daughter and son-in-law Olga and Joseph Sting of Orlando, FL; daughter and son-in-law Maria Cristina and Ronald Sting of Memphis, TN; and grandson and granddaughter-in-law Philip Sting and Jeanne Juneau of Orlando, FL. She was predeceased by her husband Luis Alberto Daza, her daughter Gloria Ines Daza Gomez, and her granddaughter Margaret Michelle Sting. Margot was a devout Roman Catholic, who was always ready to help any person in need. She was a gifted chronicler, known for her descriptive narratives of her many life experiences. With her late husband, she traveled extensively around the world, and enjoyed stays in several countries, including Brazil, England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Peru, and Portugal, where they made many friends. A visitation will be held at DEMAINE FUNERAL HOME, 5308 BACKLICK ROAD, SPRINGFIELD,
VIRGINIA on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 5-8 PM.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Church of the
Nativity, 6400 Nativity Lane, Burke, Virginia 22015 on
Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 11 AM. Interment will
take place in Memphis, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in the name of Margot G. Daza to The Missionaries of Charity, c/o Sister Mary Sabita, 700 North 7th Street, Memphis, TN 38107.
