Marguerite "Rita" Walker Obituary

Marguerite "Rita" H. Walker, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, April 29, 2016 in her home. Born on January 14, 1933 in Peoria, IL; she was the daughter of the late Leo and Helen Reid McDonough.

Rita was a devoted wife, mother and avid volunteer. She was a member of the Shriner's Club and the Elks.

She is survived by her 6 children, 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Walker in 2011 after 57 years of marriage.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 1-3 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home (7209 Glenwood Avenue). Liturgy of the Word will be held at 3 pm at the funeral home, with committal services to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Club or a hospice of your choice.

David, Carolyn Peck and family have been friends and neighbor of the Walker family over many years. Rita was such a pleasant person, and she will be missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends who loved her.

It's so said to hear of Mrs.Walker's passing.I will always remember the fun times we had sitting watching Young and the restless together while I worked there caring for Mr. Walker. Want you all to know your in my prayers. I've moved way to Indiana so I won't be able to make the funeral but will be thinking of everyone tomorrow. Miss you all ! May God put his arms around all of you and comfort you in your time of need.
