WATERVILLE – Marguerite Cyr Loisel, 81, formerly of Waterville passed away quietly on November 8, 2012 at Maine General Medical Center, Thayer Campus.
Marguerite was born in Waterville on April 15, 1931 to Ruby K. and Onesime Cyr. She was the oldest of three children and attended Waterville schools. She graduated from Coburn Classical Institute in Waterville in 1949. She worked at her father's pharmacy, Cyr's Drug Store, in downtown Waterville as a young woman in the 1950's.
She married her husband, Carl L. Loisel on June 29, 1957 after his return from naval service in the post-Korean era. They had three children in which Marguerite took a role as a title one ed-tech for the south grammar school. She was also a multi-term member of the Waterville School Board and an active member of the community. As he children grew older she became a dental assistant for Dr. Robert Dubord. Outside of her working career, Marguerite enjoyed working the local election polls as well as collecting census data for Waterville residents.
Marguerite enjoyed her friends as a lifetime member of the Waterville Elks 905 Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed her time spent at the Bingo hall, playing cards with friends, knitting, reading and ceramics.
In the last few years, Marguerite has been at Mount St. Joseph's as well as The Sunset Home Assisted Living Facility in Waterville.
Marguerite is predeceased by her loving husband, Carl, and by her parents Ruby and Onesime Cyr. She is survived by a brother Paul Cyr and his wife Nora of Bristol, a sister Ann Pinkham and her husband Dan of Damariscotta. Three children, Susan Fecteau and husband David of Fairfield; Steven Loisel and his wife Sandy of Williston, VT; Richard and his wife Karen of Scarborough. Six grandchildren; Allison Brochu, Michael Fecteau, Emily, Olivia, Lauren and Katie Loisel; and one great grandchild, Austin Brochu.
Visitation will be held on Sunday November 11th from 5-8 Pm at the Veilleux Funeral Home. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Monday November 12th at Notre Dame Catholic Church. An internment will be held at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery on Tuesday November 13 at 10 Am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Waterville Elks Lodge #905, 76 Industrial Street, Waterville, ME 04901 for either the Maine Children's Cancer Program or the Elks Scholarship Fund.
