Marguerite Schultz born to John and Lucia Cassata passed away peacefully Thursday, February 13, 2014 at age 95. A lifelong Dallas resident, she was married for 72 years to the love of her life, Willard Charles Schultz. Until her last breath, Marguerite had a passionate love for her family, which included her wonderful caregivers, especially Jennifer Buenaventura and Maryann Erni. The family is grateful for their love and gift of laughter, which kept Miss Maggie going.

Marguerite was one of five children whose parents were Italian immigrants. She graduated from Forest Avenue High School and worked as a librarian at the Dallas Public Library. In 1940 she took a night school shorthand class where she and Willard met the last night when he opened the door for her. He visited the library several times a week and their romance began. They were married September 28, 1941 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. For 72 years they were consistently known for their utmost respect and love for one another. They never wanted to do anything without first consenting with the other. It was natural to see them holding hands, even at 95 and to listen to music together. Her favorite song was "Lara's Theme" from Dr. Zhivago. She loved cooking, gardening, music, books and decorating.

Marguerite was extremely proud of her family and thanked God for their blessings to her life. Her daughter, Carol, almost never missed a daily visit unless she herself was sick. Carol's positive attitude and constant care truly reflected, "Honor your father and mother." Marguerite's grandchildren were a delight and she always said, "be an individual, don't be like everyone else." Visits with their longhaired Dachshund, Sammy were also a delight.

Marguerite was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, but in recent years attended St. Jude's Chapel in downtown Dallas, where the wonderful volunteers helped with her wheelchair, so she could attend service. She faithfully attended Mass every week in spite of her physical limitations.

Marguerite is survived by her husband, Willard Schultz Daughters: Carol Ann Schultz of Dallas and Mary Truss & husband Tom of Fort Worth. Grandchildren: Michael Truss and wife, Elizabeth of Fort Worth, and Diana Truss of Fort Worth. Sisters: Rosa Lee Cassata of Dallas, Lena Interrante of Dallas and sister-in-law, Nita Cassata of Mount Pleasant. Marguerite was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Strange of Dallas and brother, Louis Cassata of Mount Pleasant.

Service: Monday, February 17, Calvary Hill North Chapel, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas 75220 with Rosary at 2:00 p.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial. The family will receive friends prior to the rosary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Chapel, 1521 Main Street, Dallas, TX 75201.

"I have known Mrs. Schultz and the Schultz family (and Aunt Rosie) for probably at least 34 years. The very first time I met her, she made me feel like one..." Kathy Hons (Mesquite, TX)
