"Mrs. Vega was born September 1, 1938 in Calera, Zacatecas, Mexico. Later in time, she became a citizen of the United States. Mrs. Vega was the oldest sister of nine siblings traveling with her evangelical missionary father to the United States, settling in Los Indios, Texas. Simultaneously, her siblings were schooled and worked as migrants.
She cared for her brothers when her parents parted ways. She later captured her future husband's eyes and married him. She was a homemaker, an entrepreneur, and a home builder subcontractor. Her hobby was welcoming visitors at her Flea Market stand. Most importantly, she was a woman of faith. She always blessed her children and children around her. To her nieces and nephews she was known as Tia Irene, Tia Hilda, and/or just simply Tia. Her grandchildren loved calling her grandma, grandmama and/or abuelita. She always asked for her grandchildren, no matter how far or how close they lived and always sending her love to them. You could never tell she was ill because she was always fashionably dressed and made up; even when she was in route to the hospital. She was a very humble and beautiful woman inside and out. She had the most beautiful green eyes that saw a special gem on each of her children. She will be missed dearly by her family, friends, and those she met during her journey."
Mrs. Vega is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ignacio B. Vega Sr.; her father, Antonio Reyes; her mother, Natalia Eliserio Reyes; her two brothers, Joel Reyes and Juan Reyes; her sister, Maria Felis Reyes Amaro; daughter in law, Maribel Martinez Vega; granddaughter, Roxanne Vega; and grandson, Stuart Wilkinson.
