Marian Ruth Ahrendt, 83, of Victoria passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2012. Ruth was born on September 17, 1929 in Edgar, Texas to the late Marvin Kennedy and Lora Collins Kennedy. After growing up in the Cuero area, where she graduated from high school, Ruth went to Baldwin Business School. She worked for Texas Eastern Pipeline and Lester Frers Jewelry Store in Cuero. After moving to Victoria, she became a member of Northside Baptist Church for 34 years. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved spending time playing domino's and bridge with her family and friends.
Ruth is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 52 years, Fred Ahrendt, of Victoria; sons, Greg Yanta of Richardson, TX, Tim Yanta (Linda) of Portland, TX; sisters, JoAnn Brumley of Victoria and Nina Volk of Pierre, SD; granddaughters, Lora Steiger (Gavin) of San Antonio and Tania Charouleau (Craig) of Covington, LA; great grandsons, Chase Charouleau and Kellan Steiger; step grandson, Johnny Shaddock of Richardson, TX and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lillian Coppedge, Mildred Davis and Violet Corley; brothers, William Dub Kennedy and Thomas Rex Kennedy; daughter in law, Sarah Yanta.
Friends may pay their respects from 8:00 am through 8:00 pm on Friday, October 5, 2012 at Colonial Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012, 1 pm at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero, Texas.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Coppedge, Larry Coppedge, Morris "Butch" Bateman, Alan Brumley, Brian Lauper and David Zabel.
Honorary pallbearers are Bill Weber, Bill Wilson, Alvin Kubicek, Wayne Jacobs, John Larson and Marcus and Maria Valderrama.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, Texas Commission for the Blind or Northside Baptist Church "Continuing His Vision Fund".
The family would like to offer a Special Thank You to Dr. Mehran Nezhad, Dr. Will Wagner, Dr. Anne Wagner, Dr. Yong Du, Dr. Azhar Malik, Dr. George Osuchukwu, Dr. Oscar Iznaola, Dr. Harish Chandna and Dr. Brett Richards; the staff of the MCIU Unit at Citizens Medical Center; Dr. Kheim Vu and Dr. Fredrick Niegos and the staff of Warm Springs Rehabilitation Center. As well as the caregivers and staff at Excell Home Health, Jacque Mansker and Grace Reese; the staff at Davita Dialysis Center for their compassionate care, the staff of Caring Senior Services with special thanks to caregiver, Lucy Gonzales for her care and thoughtfulness.

So very sorry to hear of Ruth's passing. We know she is now free of pain and breathing the way she wished. She was a fashion plate walking as she entered our Sunday School class. I always loved seeing her and talking with her. You have beautiful and wonderful memories. Much love to the family.

Dale and I were so sad to hear of Ruth's death. She was a very sweet person and always so cheerful even when she wasn't feeling good. I know you will miss her greatly. We will be thinking of you and are here for you when you need us.
