OBITUARY NOTICE MARIAN A. HUCKINS EPSOM – Marian A. (Stone) Huckins, 91, died on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at her residence following a brief illness. Mrs. Huckins was born on August 13, 1922, in Epsom, NH, the daughter of the late Arthur and Grace (Sherburne) Stone. She was a lifelong resident of Epsom. She attended grammar school in a one room school house in her Epsom neighborhood. She then attended high school at Pembroke Academy, Pembroke NH, graduating in 1940. OBITUARY NOTICE
MARIAN A. HUCKINS
EPSOM – Marian A. (Stone) Huckins, 91, died on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at her residence following a brief illness.
Mrs. Huckins was born on August 13, 1922, in Epsom, NH, the daughter of the late Arthur and Grace (Sherburne) Stone. She was a lifelong resident of Epsom.
She attended grammar school in a one room school house in her Epsom neighborhood. She then attended high school at Pembroke Academy, Pembroke NH, graduating in 1940.
Mrs. Huckins worked for many years at Suncook Bank in Suncook NH as a teller and head teller. After leaving the bank she worked with her husband's company, Huckins Oil Company, Inc. of Epsom NH as a bookeeper. Following her husband's death, Mrs. Huckins became President of the company and served in that capacity until her retirement.
Mrs. Huckins was a long time member of the Beulah Rebekah Lodge in Epsom NH. She was an avid gardener and bird watcher particularly her beloved bluebirds and loons. She also enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting and other needle crafts. Mrs. Huckins also enjoyed her many summers at Lake Winnipesaukee, entertaining friends and family, sharing her "favorite view in the whole world".
Mrs. Huckins is survived by her son, Charles A. Huckins and his wife Deb Nickerson, of Pembroke, NH; her step children Louis Garland of Bradenton FL; Gordon (Tom) Huckins and his wife Ruth of Pittsfield, NH; many step grandchildren and great grandchildren; her cousin Lois Provencher and her son Vernon of Concord NH; her cousin George Meleleu and his wife Joyce of Mapleville RI; many more cousins and dear friends. Mrs. Huckins was predeceased by her husband, Charles N. Huckins, and her step daughter Virginia Yeaton.
SERVICES: There are no calling hours. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014, 11:00 AM at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main Street, in Concord. Committal prayers and interment will follow at McClary Cemetery, in Epsom.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to The Loon Preservation Committee, Lee's Mill Rd., PO Box 604, Moultonborough NH or Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association Hospice Program, 30 Pillsbury Street, Concord, NH, in memory of Mrs. Huckins.
