Knaup; Cherished grandmother of Lara Crosby Waechtler, Patrick Crosby, Anne Crosby Lesch, Andrew H. Knaup, Madeline Ann Knaup, Matthew Knaup Crane, and Stephanie Anne Crane; Loving great-grandmother of Emily and Abby Waechtler, Bridget, Natalie and Phoebe Lesch and Cecily Crosby; Dearest sister of Joan Burtelow and the late Donald. Alfred and Jerome Dickhaus; Dear cousin of many, including Donald Montfort and Brother James McCaffrey, S.M. Godmother to many, including Michelle Phillips Mitchell, Richard C. Knaup and Anne Burtelow Hopkins; Host mother to Sue Tamandong and other foreign students; Supportive friend, book club member, aunt, and great aunt.

Marianne was a graduate of Webster University and received a Master's degree from Washington University. During her working years, she taught in a number of schools in the St. Louis area, focusing on early childhood development and remediation. She was a Trustee of Webster University and also served on the boards of the Webster University Alumni Association, the Webster University Symphony, and the Daniel Webster Society Visionary Award by Webster University. She was the first person to have been honored by the university with both awards.

Marianne also served on the board of the Enterprise Holdings Foundation for 23 years, and on the board of the Artist's Guild of St. Louis. She pursued an avocation in art, and participated in Lifelong Learning at Washington University. Marianne and her husband were committed to making a good education accessible, and established scholarships at Webster University, St. Louis University Schools of Law, Medicine, and Business, Prescott College, Nerinx Hall, St. Mary's, Notre Dame high schools, and The College School and established Designated Scholar Loans at the Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis.

SERVICES: Marianne donated her body to St. Louis University School of Medicine. Memorial Mass on Saturday, August 3 at 2:30 p.m. at Webster University, 470 East Lockwood, in the Winifred Moore Auditorium in Webster Hall. Parking is available in the circular drive and along Lockwood Avenue. Reception to follow on campus in the Edward Jones Commons in the East Academic Building, 545 Garden Avenue. Parking is available in Lot K directly off of Big Bend (lot used by Webster's Loretto Hilton Theater/The Rep/Opera Theater St. Louis).
