The second of three children, Marianne was raised in Wilkes-Barre, PA. She graduated from St. Anne's Academy in Wilkes-Barre. They raised five children, who in turn gave them 10 grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren. Marianne was widowed in 1985 and never remarried. She was an active parishioner at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Charlotte. She enjoyed a long career in retailing at Ivey's and then Dillard's in the Southpark Mall, retiring from active sales in 2009 at the age of 86. Neighbors, friends and customers appreciated Marianne for her outgoing personality, love of life, irrepressible wit, and sense of style and abiding faith. She had a strong love for her extended family, and was interested and engaged in their lives.

She was predeceased by her parents, by her husband, her brother, Bud Mangan, and by her daughter, Joan O'Boyle Walser. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Margaret Weaver of Tampa Fl; her daughters, Erin Anderson and husband John Anderson, Colleen Monday and husband Ed Monday; her sons, Patrick O'Boyle and his wife Deirdre O' Boyle, Michael O'Boyle and wife Patricia Connelly O'Boyle; her ten grandchildren, their spouses and her eight great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. All will miss her.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Interment at Belmont Abbey Cemetery will be private.
