Mary Marie Carson, age 82, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 11, 2017 in Bartlett, Tennessee. Born on November 19, 1934, she resided in Memphis her entire life. She was loved dearly by her family, and all who knew her felt blessed to have such a kind person in their lives. She was a charter member of Frayser Assembly of God and a member of Bartlett First Assembly of God. A close friend of the family recently shared the following dear memory: "Marie was a prayer warrior with a servant's heart. She was soft-spoken and had an adorable laugh. Most importantly, she was steadfast in her faith in God and her devotion to church and family. She truly was sweet, and that is the word mentioned time and time again when people speak of her. We would all do well if we all had more of her traits. We'll miss you sweet, Marie." Marie was preceded in death by her parents, DeWitt Talmate and Lillie Ann Franklin, her son James Robert Carson, Jr., her brother DeWitt Franklin, and her sister Hazel Crenshaw. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Robert 'Jimmy' Carson, her sister Betty Stanford, her daughters Blandy Lawrence (Steve) and Andrea Fulkerson (Todd) and son Kevin Carson (Makie); her grandchildren Brittany Matlock (Dave), Brooksey Mead (Les), Lily Fulkerson, and Savannah Fulkerson; her great-grandchildren Carson Matlock, Holden Matlock, Brileigh Matlock, Nathan Mead, and Blake Mead. A service in celebration of Marie's life will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens at 3700 North Germantown Rd. in Bartlett, Tennessee on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. The family requests that memorials be sent to the Alzheimer's Association www.alz.org
