Marie Damey passed away August 1st 2017. She was born in Seattle on February 19th 1964 to Jean & Russell Damey. Marie attended preschool at Mrs. Batterberry's in Burien, her elementary years were spent at St. Bernadette's and Puget Sound Junior High and she graduated from Evergreen High School in 1982.
Wherever Marie worked over the years, she did it with her all. Whether it was working on the American Dynasty seafood processing ship in Alaska and beyond, at Huckleberry Square in Burien as a much loved hostess or at FedEx in SeaTac as a package handler, she poured herself into the job at hand and made many amazing friends along the way.
Marie had an amazing passion for love and life. She deeply loved her friends and family and adored each and every one of her countless nieces and nephews.
Marie had a signature style about her and loved to share her bargain store finds with family and friends. I remember many times when someone would see something I was wearing or decorating my house or yard with and say "That's got to be from Marie." She had such an eye for beauty and quality and it was always uniquely Marie's.
Since you are here visiting Marie's memorial site then you knew Marie and if you knew Marie then you loved her. She had such a special quality that endeared you to her and couldn't be forgotten. She is and will be missed beyond the ability for me to describe in words. A big piece of our hearts have gone before us until we meet again, rejoining her and the loved ones that have welcomed her back into their arms.
Marie is survived by her mother, Jean Snyder, her brothers, Gerald Damey (Bonnie), Ronald Damey (Alma), and Wayne Snyder (Denise), her sisters Ellen Wood (Dan), Peggy Kraft (Gerald), Julie Nord (Carl), Jenny Flesch (Wayne), Konaly Damey (Paul), many, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved dachshunds, Dottie & Elma. Marie is proceeded in death by her father, Russell Damey, her step-father, Wesley Snyder, and her brothers, Michael Damey, and Wesley Snyder Jr.
There is a memorial fund in Marie's name benefiting The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Marie struggled on and off for the last 16 years of her life with bipolar disorder and, tragically, often suffered with accepting and maintaining her medications.

My prayers go out to the Damey family. Marie touched everyone she met with her kindness and outgoing personality. I met Marie when I transferred school districts, to Evergreen High. I did not know very many people, and felt like a fish out of water. Marie made me feel welcomed, and we became fast friends. We remained close through college, taking classes together. I remember going to her parents home, and eating Marie' homemade, blueberry pancakes. (Made from scratch, NO SUGAR!) Rest peacefully Marie.

I remember Marie from our days at St. Bernadette's. She had a great sense of humor and a wonderfully bright smile. "Oh heavenly Father, hide not so far Your grace. Show us, oh love most high, the brightness of your face". Peace, Marie.
