It was Marie who asked me many years ago if I would consider being the official chaplain for our motorcycle group The Free Spirit Chapter. I was humbled and surprised by the request. Even more surprised by the leadership of our very diverse membership agreeing to ask me. When I said yes I did not do so lightly but with all sincerity of accepting responsibility for the spiritual support of our group. Being present at her funeral and being thanked by her family is one of the highest honors of my own spiritual journey. And again to her family I say THANK YOU for sharing your wonderful mother with us...like you had a choice! ;)

I've known Marie through my brother who married her daughter. I mostly saw Marie during the holidays. Marie would always have stories of her latest adventures and plans for new ones to talk about. I always admired her fearless attitude and zest for life. God speed, Marie.

Our Marie - Biker, Champion Archer, Hot Shooter at Slingshots
Marie's family might not know that over the last few years, she adopted a new, if less known, family of Multilakes Conservation archers and slinghshooters. Most of the Multilakes gang never met Marie's real family, except through her stories and travels. Did the family know that Marie led the Archery league for a few years, and was a champion Archer? Do they know that she later joined the Slingshot league (a bit larger, if less sophisticated), and her team was a Spring Series Champ in 2014? How about her Solo Motorcycle tour of the US at age 75? Marie had spunk, was not afraid to try new things, and ready to help. She was my neighbor in Milford, and joined my own scattered family for some holiday moments. My younger boys knew here as "Mimi". Marie will be personally missed by many, and most especially by those of us she adopted. Our thoughts and payers go out to her family, and our memories stay with all of us.

Aunt Marie,
As a child I loved you because you were always so much fun, funny and full of so much energy and life! You & my Uncle Leo were always so much fun to be with. I loved staying with you when my mom was in the hospital several times when I was growing up. It was fun at your house. I felt loved always. I have great memories of those times. As an adult, I loved always feeling welcomed & being invited to your corn roasts! Even my own children got to grow up doing that. Playing "find the coins in the corn stalks & tractor rides from Uncle Leo". Also, my very special Aunt Marie, I will never forget our lunches at Olgas kitchen. You only listened to your heart. Thank you! I love you! I will miss you! Say "Hi " to my mom ok? I love you! Your Niece, Suzanne * saying a prayer for you today and for your family.

My deepest sympathies go out to the Miller family. I met Marie about 37 years ago. I always appreciated her company, and her direct nature. She always did a lot of charity work. From soup kitchens, to the golf tournaments, she always found time to give back to the world. Marie would let me store my boat at her house in Milford for the winter. True to form, she would never take any money. I would take Marie, and Matt fishing every year. She enjoyed being out, even if the fish weren't biting. Nobody, and I mean nobody packs a fishing cooler like Marie. She would show up with a GIANT camping cooler that was packed with chicken, potato salad, rolls, you name it. It was just a sign of her giving nature. I can only hope that I can enjoy my later years like she did. God bless. Your friend, Bill Bietler
