Marie E. Ashkenis, 82, of Whiting, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Middletown before moving to Whiting 12 years ago. Marie worked for Middletown Township for 20 years as a financial clerk, retiring in 1995. She was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Whiting and a member of the Ceramics Club. Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who enjoyed spending time with her cherished family.
She was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Mary Milne and her sister and brother-in-law Kay and Jimmy Keelan. Surviving are her devoted husband of 64 years Raymond; a son Raymond Ashkenis of Toms River; her daughter Mary Jean Priller and her husband Michael of Antioch, IL; her grandchildren Jessica, Justin, and Nicholas Ashkenis, Jon and Chris Longyhore, and Colby Priller; daughter-in-law Donna Ashkenis; brother and sister-in-law George and Patricia Milne of Neptune; and many caring nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 10:45 a.m. St. Elizabeth Ann Seton All Saints Chapel, 30 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Middletown.
