This remarkable woman was my beloved Godmother. She has mentored me all my life, religiously sending annual birthday gifts and long, newsy, interesting letters. She was a lifelong friend of my parents in Iron Mountain and a lifelong mentor of mine. I will miss her presence in my life but cherish my memories of her. I thank God for her beautiful, intelligent, caring presence in this world. For it, I am immensely humbled and grateful.

"Manya" was a dear family friend. She and Bill were lifetime friends of my parents. She was my Godmother - one who never forgot my birthday and honored it with thoughtful gifts and long, newsy, interesting letters. She mentored me from birth through adulthood. She expressed a deep concern and interest in my life. It meant so very much to me. I always looked forward to Bill and Manya's annual visits to the UP. I am deeply saddened in losing her, my life's "cheerleader". God bless and keep Manya for who she was and what she meant to me and my family. With love, I thank her for the beautiful spirit she was. Our sincere sympathy to the family of Marilyn Cochran. We read of her passing in the Iron Mountain Daily News. Although we did not ever meet Marilyn, My husband Harlan often spoke of Bill who took photo's of my husband and two brothers when they were about 5, 6, and 7 years old and Bill was still in High School. The three Walters Boys are all in their 80's now.
About 30 some years ago Bill came to our home in Iron Mountain and delivered some more pictures of the Walters boys. Harlan's father Howard worked for and helped in the beginning of the Cochran Frieght Lines started by Bill's father, in Iron Mountain. So Harlan's memories of the Cochrans continue to this day.
He and I were also very pleased to see that he and Marilyn made a nice Scholarship to Iron Mountain High School not too many years ago and wanted to thank them for their gift to his hometown. May God's blessings bring comfort to Bill and all who loved Marilyn.
Our sympathy and prayers,
Harlan and Orice Walters
