Marilyn Howell Obituary

Marilyn June (Kottke) Howell was born June 2, 1925 in Hillsboro, Oregon to Lawrence and Nora (Greenlitt) Kottke the second of five children. She passed away July 16, 2012. She was a resident of Colorado Springs from 1965-1968 and returned in 1971 until her death.
She graduated from high school in Oregon and attended nursing school. She married John R. Howell in 1943 and divorced 1951. On May 31, 1952 married William D. Howell (no relation).
While working various jobs, she accompanied her Air Force husband to various duty stations and helped raise their four sons. With his retirement, she stared her own income tax business which she operated for over 40 years. Marilyn was a connoisseur of California wines, an accomplished cake decorator, and voracious reader leading her to collect the entire "Reader's Digest Condensed Book Series". She was an avid traveler using her motor home and accompanied by her beloved dog, Sara, to visit family, friends, and many beautiful areas of the US. She was a very independent person since her husband's death in 1985.
She was preceded in death by her husband William D. Howell and her granddaughter, AnneMarie Howell. She is survived by her four sons: John R. Howell and wife Han of Marino Valley, CA, Lawrence E. Howell and wife Deyanne of Windcrest, TX, William E. Howell of here, and Thomas C. Howell and wife Colene Wilson of Clarence, MO, 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, sister Gwen, and brothers Gene and Dennis.
The viewing will take place July 19, 2012 from 4 to 6 pm at Swan-Law

Marilyn did such a great job with our taxes. She even continued to do them after we moved to Illinois until her retirement. We are so sorry to hear of her passing. God bless her; and may she rest in peace. Dennis and Joanna Helm
