NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Marine Broussard Barilleaux, age 81, at 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Msgr. Richard Greene will be the celebrant. Entombment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Thursday from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 11:30 am.

Marine was born October 8, 1931 in Loreauville to Didier and Ita Boudreaux Broussard, and was one of 9 children. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Belle Teche Nursing Home and Rehab.

Marine was a graduate of St. Martinville High School where she was an all-star basketball player. As a homemaker, she was a great cook and was known for her hotcakes. Many memorable meals were shared with family and friends. She also loved playing cards and table games for fun with her family and friends. Marine loved dancing and her favorite pastime was reading. She was a lady that had no fears and great love for her whole family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her children, Ronald Barilleaux and wife Sheila, Laurie Hebert and husband Rory, and Linda Guillory and husband Jimmy, Sr. all of New Iberia, and Eric Barilleaux and Fiance' Pamela Myers of St. Martinville; seven grandchildren, Brooke Richard, Misti Alvarez, Seth Hebert, Jimmy Guillory, Jr., Ryan Guillory, Cy Barilleaux, and Alexis Marine Barilleaux; two step-grandchildren, Quentin Hebert and Dana Kibodeaux; 14 great grandchildren; her sister, Dolores Richard of Cade; and two brothers, Ransdell Broussard of Port Arthur, and Kenneth Broussard of New Iberia.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Alvin Barilleaux; parents, Didier and Ita Broussard; a step-granddaughter, Chasity Guillory; three brothers, Gerald, Raymond and John Broussard; and two sisters, Gladys Semar and Lorraine Lopez.

Serving as pallbearers will be Eric and Cy Barilleaux, Rory and Seth Hebert, T.J. Guillory, and Brent Richard. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Barilleaux, Jimmy Guillory, Sr., and Ryan Guillory.
